If you are like me, ever since you were a small child you dreamed of that perfect Christmas at your favorite location. You remember that dream, right? Where your family surprised you with a secret vacation during Christmas break to one of the best Christmas places in the world? I remember that dream as if it were yesterday. Sometimes those dreams invade our minds when we least expect them. Dreaming of what it would be like to be there for Christmas this year. For some kids, that dream is Disney World on Christmas Day, while others dream of snow covered mountains and fireplaces to keep them warm.
Lately, I have been dreaming of a small cabin in the middle of a mountain covered in snow with snowmobiles, snowboarding, sledding, horseback riding, and all the fun one can dream up. When I was younger, my only dream of Christmas was to see the fairy princesses at Disney World. It is strange how as we grow our mere definition of Christmas magic changes into something different. Sometimes we long to be a kid again and have fun the way kids too. Other times, we dream of escaping reality and finding a quiet place to hide away from the world.
Think about that dream you had as a child where you wanted to spend your Christmas break holiday. Now think about what you dream about for your Christmas vacation now that you are older. How much of it has changed? Do you still want the same dream holiday?
The more I watch Hallmark the more I want a picture perfect quiet place with lots of snow on the ground. With all the hustle and bustle all year long, when Christmas comes the only thing I really want to do is pack up and find a mountain with tons of snow to spend two weeks without any interruptions. That most definitely is not the Christmas vacation I dreamed about as a child. As a child, I was a princes’s meeting Cinderella, Snow White, Bella, and the fairies. Of course, that was a child’s dream, but it was my dream for a perfect Christmas vacation.
Now, I think with age and maybe a little wisdom I really want to spend the Christmas holiday with my family snuggled up relaxing and having fun. The peace and quiet would be amazing along with some well needed relaxation. After all, 99% of everyone works more and more these days just to make ends meet. Tell me truthfully, if you could have your Christmas dream vacation exactly what would that entail? Where would you go? Who would you be with? How would you spend your time each day? Do you dream of the beach or the mountains?
Get creative and dream about the perfect Christmas vacation. Let the dream build inside you until it is bursting at the seams. We might be adults, but we still can dream any dream we want.
